Guide/Dictionary to gender and sexuality
Our first introduction to a language is learning the alphabets and associating each letter with a common word that starts from it (A for apple, B for ball). ABC’s is the introduction of certain terminology, in which each letter defines certain terms related to gender and sexuality. The letters are illustrated in accordance to their terms definition. Throughout the book I have maintained three colours, purple, orange and green. These are mixtures of the primary colours and are in the middle of the colour wheel. This not only symbolises that gender and sexuality are not solid but a combination of various aspects but also breaks the stereotype of blue is for boys and pink is for girls.
I had interviewed certain counsellors, therapists, psychiatrists, children, adults and young adults to get different perspectives and insights for this book.

I Hear You
The communication barrier between a parent and a child is explained in this book. I used the concept of imaginary friends, that many children told me about, to communicate the problems and solutions. The book has two characters that talk about the mother-daughter relationship. The illustration of these characters is inspired from the drawings of the children I interviewed (I had asked them to draw their imaginary friend for me while I was asking them questions). The story also includes some anecdotes that I received from the children themselves. This book is for parents as well as children.

How the Whale got his Throat
My illustrated version for children of Rudyard Kipling's famous short story-how the whale got his throat. I used marble paper cutouts for the characters and oil paints, soft pastels, colour pencils etc for the background; which I then took digitally.
